The Light Over London Julia Kelly Books
I thought there might be a surprise hidden inside this basic romance novel. I'm not a fan of girl meets boy she wants to ignore but falls in love kinda stuff. Three stories all of which end up exactly where you figure they will after the first few chapters. I was disappointed in the mediocre story line, you see it coming, you just keep hoping there might be something you missed and that it will end up be more exciting than it actually ever is. Nice easy light reading but not exactly compelling or gripping.Tags : Amazon.com: The Light Over London (9781501196416): Julia Kelly: Books,Julia Kelly,The Light Over London,Gallery Books,1501196413,Antique dealers,Antique dealers;Fiction.,Historical fiction,War fiction,War stories,War stories.,World War, 1939-1945 - England - London,World War, 1939-1945;England;London;Fiction.,ENGLISH HISTORICAL FICTION,ENGLISH LIGHT ROMANTIC FICTION,England,FICTION Historical General,FICTION Historical World War II,FICTION Romance Historical 20th Century,FICTION Women,Fiction,Fiction-Historical,FictionHistorical - World War II,FictionRomance - Historical - 20th Century,FictionRomance - Historical - General,FictionWomen,GENERAL,General Adult,United States,Women's Studies,World War II fiction; best 20th century fiction; commercial fiction; women's fiction; bookclub reads; war fiction; kristin hannah; nightingale; martha hall kelly; lilac girls; sweetness of forgetting; room on rue amelie; historical romance; witty banter; marriage; love; falling in love; Kristin Harmel; juliette fay; historical women's fiction; diplomat's wife; pam jenoff; georgia hunter; we were the lucky ones; lisa wingate; before we were yours; gunner girls; kate morton; clockmaker's daughter; the lake house; the secret keeper; dear mrs. bird; aj pearce; the guernsey literary and potato peel society; light between oceans; major pettigrew's last stand; a paris apartment; michelle gable; the tattooist of auschwitz; the only woman in the room,World War II fiction; gunner girls; best 20th century fiction; commercial fiction; women's fiction; bookclub reads; war fiction; kristin hannah; nightingale; martha hall kelly; lilac girls; the only woman in the room; sweetness of forgetting; room on rue amelie; diplomat's wife; pam jenoff; georgia hunter; we were the lucky ones; lisa wingate; before we were yours; dear mrs. bird; aj pearce; the guernsey literary and potato peel society; a paris apartment; michelle gable; light between oceans; major pettigrew's last stand; the tattooist of auschwitz; historical romance; witty banter; marriage; love; falling in love; Kristin Harmel; juliette fay; kate morton; clockmaker's daughter; the lake house; the secret keeper; historical women's fiction
The Light Over London Julia Kelly Books Reviews
This book has suspense, history of women's ATS and love story. Great story, makes you want it to not end.
I really enjoyed this story. It was a romance but more. I'm always intrigued by what went on during WWII and this book taught me new things which I found fascinating. This book is definitely worth checking out.
Thoroughly enjoyed this novel - about a mystery the goes back to and through WWII in England told alongside a contemporary romance of an appealing couple. Wonderful detail about the British women who served throughout WWII so well told you swept along feeling as if you knew them all. One of my favorite books I've read-and I read constantly!
I liked the detail of what life must have been like around the 1940 time frame
in England and in the Cornwall region for young ladies. A great yarn in particular
regarding the principle character Louise and her difficult journey though the London
raids and survival of personal impacts delivered to her and overcoming these to
live her dream life in California.
Nothing special. About a young innocent girl from a small town who leaves her home during WWII to join up and meets this charming handsome pilot....they fall in love..there is a twist to the story.....A woman who finds her diary is also living her own story. Many years after the war. She searches to find the woman whose diary she's found.... Janet B
This was an awesome book......couldn't wait to get to the end to find out what happened with the characters.
Well written and kept you wanting to find out the ending. WWII novels are so interesting to me.
Thanks for an awesome book.
Predictable and somewhat boring, this book does little to actually illuminate history and instead relies on well-worn tropes and romantic plot lines to attempt to move the story forward. So shallow is this novel that its plot could be plucked from its WWII setting and dropped into any other—WWI, Vietnam, Victorian, Edwardian, American Civil War, etc.—and very little would actually need to change. If you like soapy, one-dimensional, predictable romances, you might enjoy this book. Otherwise, it is not worth the money and an insult to the genre.
