unlike a few other CF blogs, i am refusing to mention the unprovoked slip up that occurred last sunday at the PB 1230 service. 

i'm sorry. you won't hear it from me. 

generations - once again

last night, JR gathered a few of us together to talk about, think about and pray about the prospect and reality a soon coming CF Generations album.  to be totally honest, when i received the invite, i mentally vetoed the idea of being part of it. 

for whatever reason, that was a road i didn't want to travel down again. but, JR being JR, convinced me to come to the meeting. (he basically threatened my job security... just kidding) within a few moments in last nights meeting my heart changed. 

i'm definitely more apt or willing to commit to a person quicker than a purpose, so i decided in my mind, and my spirit too, that i was going to stick to whatever JR visioned for this project. if he thought that people would be reached then i was down to be a par. if he thought that no one would be impacted but he just wanted to do something fun, i would still do it. 

but what was cool is, i saw the heart that i've been desperate to attain and maintain for fallen miami in the hearts of the guys around me... so i guess i'm in.

Lets pray that God would allow for this song to make it in WL Mag/Song Discovery, it would huge for our church and what we want to accomplish as a worship ministry. It's all for God's glory, He assembled an amazing team and put us in a very influential city.

first impressions

i forgot to tell you guys about something else that happened at publix last week... this is actually cool. 

i walked in the supermarket on monday because i wanted to pick up some stuff i needed to make dinner. so i'm walking in and one of the managers kind of cuts me off. (people just do that to me all the time) 

this is how he approaches me: "you probably don't remember me, but you were the first person i met when i came to church last year. you met me at the gate and walked me around and showed me how to get to the worship center. i was so grateful that you took the time to show me around."

i looked at his name plate, and i remembered! reggie. i met him right in front of the academy office, introduced myself to him and walked him to the greeters in front of the worship center. wow. i can't believe he remembered me. mainly because that was on one of the last sundays before Homestead campus started. he told me he loved everything about CF and he felt at home the moment he got there. 

what is that about!!??

i was so excited to hear that. it makes me be more aware of guests at my campus now. i would love for someone else to have that same experience in Homestead because of one of our volunteers. first impressions last FOREVER.

i'm not lost...

so the other day i was leaving the office and i was hungry. so, i decided to make a trip by the publix on US1 near the big starbucks gas station. mind you, i'm minding my own business...

so i get out of the car and walk towards the entrance to grab a shopping cart and i hear this voice somewhere behind me say: "hey, hey man,  you lost?" 

i'm thinking: 'he isn't talking to me...' so i grab my cart and turn around and this police officer is standing right there in front of me. and he ain't smiling! then he asks me: "are you lost?" (at this point i realized he was talking to me) i try to be cool, so i say: "nope, i'm good," then i try to walk away, but he cuts off my path.

so i'm thinking to myself: "this is it. i've made jokes about this kinda thing for years, but now it's really happening. i'm about to get arrested for being black!" 

then he says: "i think you are lost" - you see that emphasis... 

so i'm starting to get really nervous and quite frankly, a little mad. so i say: "why would i be lost? i know where i'm at." so he says: "you're playing right?"

playing? what is he talking about? the last minute and a half quickly flashed before my eyes, and i thought, maybe i was driving a little fast in the parking lot... maybe i rolled through a stop sign... what is he talking about? play?

so i build up a great rebuttal to his question... this was insightful. so i responded like this:  

huh?

then he repeated himself: "you play right? and sing?" say what? then he says: you play guitar right? then i say: yeah... (it was a really slow yeah, with a bit of hesitation) then he says: "oh, i guess you ain't lost then" 

at this point in time, the dumbest look anyone could make is painted all over my face. then he introduces himself... he apparently the kids security at CFPB and he recognized me. what the jank!!!! 

i almost soiled myself! he scarred the life out of me. even though i was scarred out of my mind, i tried to be cool and laugh it off. but he was just messing with me. wow. that wasn't even right.

i'm leading in Palmetto Bay this weekend, if i see him, i'll get a picture with him so you all can see the man who almost gave me a heart attack.

3 weeks away

so the countdown is on! we leave for bolivia in 3 weeks! wow. i'm so pumped. it seems so much more like a reality now that the El Salvador team has just left. since they're gone, it puts my our trip into focus... as far as time. please pray for us and the El Salvador team that is now in El Salvador... i'm excited for them all especially the children's ministry... what an opportunity you have to impact the kingdom. Dominate!

pray for they're safety and effectiveness. pray for jeff and jorge. and pray for God to soften hearts so His truth may be taken in. respect!!!!!
